The Tracheostomy Filter is a heat and moisture exchanger (HME) specifically designed for tracheostomized patients, replacing the human nasal cavity's functions of heating, humidification, and basic filtration. By recovering part of the moisture and heat from the patient's exhaled air and reintroducing them into the airway during inhalation, the product helps maintain a stable internal airway environment and reduces irritation from dry air on the respiratory tract.
Featuring a simple structure consisting of a shell and an internal humidification pad, it is equipped with a standard interface that can be directly connected to tracheostomy tubes, ventilator circuits, or breathing bags, suitable for long-term or short-term clinical use.
The Tracheostomy Filter is mainly used for patients after tracheostomy, applicable to those with spontaneous breathing or receiving mechanical ventilation support. It provides passive heating and humidification for inhaled and exhaled air, reducing the loss of airway moisture and heat, and minimizing sputum drying, crusting, and breathing discomfort.
In the absence of active humidification equipment, it can serve as a basic humidification solution for daily respiratory management of tracheostomized patients.
The tracheostomy-specific artificial nose is widely used in the following departments and scenarios:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Department of Respiratory Medicine
Anesthesiology Department
Emergency Department
Postoperative Recovery and General Wards
It is suitable for mechanical ventilation after tracheostomy, weaning transition period, spontaneous breathing phase, postoperative respiratory support, and daily care.
Tracheostomy-Specific Structure: Interface size compatible with tracheostomy tubes, ensuring secure connection and reducing air leakage.
Heat and Moisture Exchange Function: Effectively recovers moisture and heat from exhaled air, improving the quality of inhaled air.
Reduced Respiratory Irritation: Helps alleviate airway dryness, coughing, and discomfort.
Minimized Sputum Issues: Maintains airway moisture, reducing the risk of sputum viscosity and obstruction.
No Additional Equipment Required: Passive operation without the need for power supply, easy to use.
Basic Filtration Protection: Blocks some external impurities from entering the airway, providing protective effects.
The Tracheostomy Filter primarily plays the following roles in respiratory management of tracheostomized patients:
Assists mechanical ventilation and supports the patient's respiratory function.
Maintains airway patency and reduces secretion accumulation.
Protects the airway from direct irritation by external air.
Can be used in conjunction with airway medication administration or nebulization therapy when needed.
Suitable for patients with respiratory failure or in the rehabilitation phase after head and neck surgery.

Oxygen tube connection diameter: 0.5 cm
Applicable tidal volume range: 200–1500 ml
Moisture output: Approximately 25 mg / 500 ml tidal volume
Sterilization method: Ethylene Oxide (EO) sterilization
Product status: Sterile medical consumable
During use, connect the Tracheostomy Filter directly between the tracheostomy tube and the breathing circuit. When the patient exhales, heat and moisture are absorbed by the internal humidification pad; during inhalation, these heated and humidified components re-enter the airway, helping to maintain a stable respiratory tract environment and improve patient comfort.
Regular Replacement: Replace promptly according to usage time and the patient's secretion status to avoid deterioration of humidification performance or bacterial growth.
Monitor Patient Status: Continuously observe the patient's breathing condition and the color and volume of sputum; promptly address any abnormalities.
