The Tracheostomy-Specific Heat and Moisture Exchanger (HME), also known as an Artificial Nose, is a respiratory humidification device specially designed for tracheostomized patients. The Tracheostomy Breathing Filter connects directly to the patient’s airway via the tracheostomy stoma, replacing the human nasal cavity's functions of heating, humidification, and basic filtration.
During the patient’s exhalation, the product absorbs and stores part of the moisture and heat, which are then delivered back to the airway during subsequent inhalation. This helps improve the temperature and humidity of inhaled air, maintain a relatively stable internal airway environment, and reduce irritation of the respiratory mucosa caused by dry air.
The Tracheostomy Breathing Filter mainly consists of a shell, filter medium, and humidification material, with a compact design featuring standard air inlet and outlet. Its working principle is passive heat and moisture exchange, which does not rely on an external power supply. It achieves humidification of inhaled air by recycling heat and moisture from exhaled air.

Tracheostomy-Specific Design: Suitable for daily respiratory management of post-tracheostomy patients, compatible with ventilators, breathing bags, or oxygen therapy devices.
Stable Humidification Performance: Provides relatively stable moisture output within the recommended tidal volume range, helping reduce the risk of airway dryness and sputum viscosity.
Reduced Equipment Complexity: In some clinical scenarios, it can reduce reliance on active humidification systems and simplify breathing circuit configuration.
Single-Use Sterile Product: Sterilized by ethylene oxide (EO) for one-time use, helping lower the risk of cross-infection.
The Tracheostomy Breathing Filter is suitable for tracheostomized patients requiring respiratory support or oxygen therapy, commonly used in the following departments and scenarios:
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
Department of Respiratory Medicine
Emergency Department
Anesthesiology and Perioperative Management
Postoperative Respiratory Support and Rehabilitation Phase
Assist tracheostomized patients with mechanical ventilation or spontaneous breathing.
Help maintain airway moisture and reduce sputum drying and crusting.
Lower the risk of airway obstruction and support unobstructed breathing.
Provide basic filtration of inhaled air to reduce external particles entering the airway.
Under standardized operation, it can be used in conjunction with airway care and medication administration-related operations.
Oxygen tube connection diameter: 0.5 cm
Applicable tidal volume: 200–1500 ml
Moisture output: 25 mg / 500 ml tidal volume (VT)
Sterilization method: Ethylene oxide (EO) sterilization
Replace Regularly in Accordance with Specifications: It is recommended to replace the product promptly based on usage time, humidification status, and clinical evaluation results to avoid filter material saturation or contamination.
Continuously Monitor Patient Status: During use, observe the patient’s respiratory rate, changes in breathing resistance, and sputum characteristics. If dyspnea, significant increase in secretions, or other abnormalities occur, professional medical staff should conduct evaluation and treatment.
For Use Only Under Professional Guidance: This product should be used under the guidance of medical staff or in a medical environment, and cannot replace necessary clinical treatment measures.
